We understand that waxing can be uncomfortable for some people, but no need to be shy! At Wax Garden, we are professionals, and we make you have the best time!
Symptoms including redness and bumps are normal, especially if it’s your first time. Your skin can get back to normal within 24-48 hours of the treatment.
It is recommended to keep your waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction for the next 24-48 hours.
Try to wear clean, loose-fitting clothes, and avoid doing the following:
-
Hot baths and showers (lukewarm is fine)
-
Saunas and steam treatments
-
Tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans)
-
Swimming in chlorinated pools
-
Scratching or touching the treated area

To get favourable results for longer, follow the directions below:
-
Avoid application of deodorants, sprays, make-up, perfumes, and lotions for 24-48 hours, except for the product recommended by your therapist
-
For soothing your skin, use an antiseptic cream for three days
-
Try to wash your hands before applying any product
-
Use sunblock on exposed areas of skin
Four treatments are required for a growth cycle that shows desired results. Shaving, using hair removal creams and tweezer is highly discouraged between appointments. For a smooth appearance, waxing four to six weeks is recommended.
To Prevent Ingrown Hairs
You can start exfoliating your skin a few days before your appointment using a body mitt, brush, or scrub thrice a week, and moisturise the area daily for soft skin. It will help new hair grow easily.
.
Do NOT use a razor or shave in between appointments.
Using razor or shaving will cause a hindrance to effective results. Furthermore, if the hair is too short, it won’t be removed from waxing. Therefore, it is important to allow three weeks of hair growth, or half a centimetre, for easy removal.
Avoid the following:
-
Any chemical exfoliates for 48 hours before the treatment
-
Sunbathing or sunbeds for 24-48 hours before the treatment
-
Using deodorant on the areas you want to get waxed
-
Oils, body lotions or moisturisers on the day of treatment
You can gently exfoliate the skin a few days before treatment but not on the day of treatment.
Most importantly, relax.
Take a deep breath. You’re in safe hands.

It’s normal immediately after your treatment for a little redness to appear. This can vary from a mild redness to a stronger skin reaction and some people have red dots for several hours. If the aftercare is followed correctly the skin will return to normal after 24 hours.
Because waxing removes the hair at the root, it’s important that you keep the area clean and bacteria free. This means:
– No sunbathing for at least 12 hours (have your waxing done at least the day BEFORE you go on holiday)
– No swimming in a chlorinated pool for 24 hours
– Same for spa baths or saunas
– Avoid applying any topical lotions for at least 12 hours (fragrances and other lubricants can cause a burning sensation)
– Also avoid touching the waxed area to ensure it remains bacteria free
– Using an oil based product lightly will sooth the area. My personal favourite is coconut oil
The next consideration is to ensure you prevent ingrown hairs. This is when new, often softer hair can get trapped under the skin. A few simple steps can easily avoid this situation– Use a dry brush or exfoliating gloves and Ruff scrub to gently buff the area every 2-3 days – this is particularly important after about day 3 through to about the 10 day mark. It doesn’t need to be hard scrubbing, just a gentle exfoliation. After you've bathed/showered, apply some baby oil, coconut oil or E45 cream. This will leave your skin hydrated and help prevent ingrown hairs.
